The Pentax K1000 was introduced in 1976. It's a fully manual 35mm single-lens reflex (SLR) film camera manufactured by Asahi Optical Co. from 1976 to 1997. Renowned for its durable, purely mechanical design, the camera requires no battery to operate aside from a single cell to power its built-in match-needle light meter. Because it lacks automatic exposure modes—offering only essential controls for aperture, shutter speed (ranging from 1 second to 1/1000th of a second plus Bulb), and manual focus—it became a popular starter camera for photography students worldwide. This camera has the versatile Pentax K-mount for interchangeable lenses, with so many different lenses available.

This model is one produced between 1976-78.

You can tell because the original models have a metal top and bottom. Look for the "ASAHI" text, an AOCo logo stamped above "PENTAX" on the pentaprism, and a metal screw-in battery cap.

Condition Notes
Used - Very Good. Some wear from years of use, but very good for its age. Some of the letters/numbers are worn off slightly, and there are some minor scratches on the body, but nothing that affects use of the camera. Inside is clean. No fungus, or any other internal issues. Camera has been tested and works. The back has some dirt that I have tried pretty hard to remove. I guess it has just decided to live on the camera.
