About Odd World Studio

Thanks for visiting Odd World Studio!

We’re a photo lab and vintage camera shop in the greater Cleveland, Ohio area built by a genuine love of film, and desire to keep analog photography alive and accessible. Don't worry, we have love for digital photography as well, but specialize in mostly vintage and analog.

Odd World Studio was started in 2016 by Northeast-Ohio-based photographer Johnny Joo—who has spent over 20 years studying photography and experimenting with film and digital.

That's me; I'm Johnny and I'm writing in the third-person. Weird. Let's stop that.

When I started Odd World Studio, it became a place where I would showcase art, and many personal projects I was working on over the years. But what I really wanted from the start (and just didn't really have the means to do so) was to create a full-service lab and studio where I could offer the same services I've spent years obsessing over through my own work, and work I would often do for friends and clients. Film developing, scanning, fine art printing, photo restorations and more.

My first job out of high school was working at a local film lab, and I enjoyed every moment of it. It wasn't long until all of the local labs started shutting down. So all these years later, here I am finally shaping Odd World Studio into a space where I can do exactly that. It has taken a lot of time and reorganization to feel comfortable enough to bring these changes to Odd World Studio, but I'm excited to finally be moving forward with it!

Whether you need color or black-and-white processing, or high-res scans for your 35mm, 120, 110, and mounted slides, we’ve got you covered. We also handle digital photo restoration and professional fine art printing to help you save and show off those family archives. Beyond the lab, our studio is basically a playground for analog shooters. We specialize in vintage gear, carrying a constantly rotating selection of fully functional cameras and lenses dating anywhere from the early 1900s all the way up to today. Drop by to stock up on fresh film, snag your new favorite camera, or find some other accessories you love.

I want this space to feel like stepping right back into the local photo labs I grew up with in the late ‘90s and early 2000s. Back then, dropping off film wasn't just an errand; there was a real magic to it—the anticipation of waiting to get your film back, and digging into the envelope when you finally picked it up. The fact that a real human actually cared about how your photos turned out. With Odd World Studio, my goal is to pull that exact energy forward into everything we do. I want Odd World Studio to be a bridge between eras, combining the convenience of today with the soul, the hands-on care, and the tactile thrill of the analog days.
