This download includes 3 different flexible color profiles for Nikon. One is based off of a technicolor type look (with two different variations of it). Please mess with adjusting the white balance to get different looks dependent on the scene with this one. It can be pretty fun.
The other is one I created based off of one of my favorite recipes I use when taking photos with my Fuji cameras. Great for warm summer days and warm vibes to an image.
Some examples below:
After downloading, locate the ZIP file on your computer.
Right-click and choose Extract All (Windows) or Open With → Archive Utility (Mac).
Inside you’ll see one or more .NP2
or .NP3
files — these are the Nikon Picture Control profile files.
Take a memory card that is formatted in your Nikon camera.
Insert the card into your computer.
Copy the profile files (.NP2
/ .NP3
) into the NIKON → CUSTOMPC folder on the card.
If the folder doesn’t exist, create one named NIKON
at the root of the card, and inside it a subfolder called CUSTOMPC
.
Put the card back into your Nikon camera.
Turn the camera on and go to:
Menu → Photo Shooting Menu → Manage Picture Control → Load/Save → Copy to Camera
Select the profile you copied and press OK to install it.
The profile will now appear in your Set Picture Control list under the name I gave it.
Go to Menu → Photo Shooting Menu → Set Picture Control.
Scroll to find the custom profile you just loaded.
Select it, and you’re ready to shoot with the new look applied to your JPEGs and live preview.
Here’s a list (current as of 2025) of Nikon cameras that are known or reported to support Flexible Color or custom picture controls via Nikon’s newer system. (Support may depend on firmware.)
Model | Notes / Evidence of Support |
---|---|
Nikon Z6III | Listed as supporting Flexible Color in its Picture Control menu. |
Nikon Zf | Its firmware v2.00 added Flexible Color / cloud Picture Control support. |
Nikon Z50II | Specifically named among models compatible with Nikon Imaging Cloud & Flexible Color. |
Nikon Z5II | Also cited in Nikon materials as compatible with Flexible Color. |
Nikon Z8 | According to Nikon’s general Picture Control documentation, with firmware 3.0 the Z8 has gained Flexible Color support. |
If you own one of the older Nikon DSLRs or mirrorless bodies, they may support custom Picture Controls (i.e. adjusting parameters like contrast, saturation, hue) but not the full Flexible Color / color‐grading system. Nikon manuals note that many DSLRs / COOLPIX / Nikon 1 bodies support only a limited set of Picture Controls (Standard, Vivid, Neutral, etc.) and custom ones that use basic adjustments—not color grading per hue.
